Automatic renault captur10/12/2023 ![]() There's no bulky key fob, but a sleek looking credit card-sized 'access card'. Getting inside the Captur is a bit of occasion. That's not necessarily a bad thing in our books, though. The tail lamps, the bumper and the windscreen all look like polished, grown-up version of the hatchback. ![]() There's quite a lot of customisation options on offer as well, which should give you the liberty to deck the Captur up the way you want to.įrom the rear, the Captur tries hard to shrug off the resemblance to the little Kwid. Keep in mind that the dual-tone combination will be an option. The two-tone is well-executed, and it's easy to see why Renault say the Captur was designed to sport a dual-tone paint scheme even since it was conceptualised. That said, the 17-inch wheels look classy, and the 215/60R17 tyres look just right sitting under the flared wheel arches. The design here has some understated French flair, which is going to be an acquired taste for most. The profile and the rear are a notch understated compared to the face. It also sits quite high up, with a healthy 210mm of ground clearance. ![]() While the curvy design does give you the illusion that the Captur is compact, it does have great road presence. It's got a bit of novelty on its side for now, and the bright orange colour our test car wore only aided the eye-ball grabbing. Lest, we forget, the Captur is also one of the longest and widest cars in the segment with the largest wheelbase too. Will you give it a second glance? Oh yes. Yes, it isn't as tall as a conventional boxy SUV, but there’s no doubt that it looks like a premium offering. We once parked it next to a Duster at a restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at how mature the Captur looked. But, spend some time with it and the edgy design grows on you. The Captur's crossover design may not appeal to all at first glance. Find my past life10/11/2023 One more search tip before we move on to the census returns. There are so many different military records available for you to search on the Findmypast website and the ability to search for a Soldier by their Service Number and Regiment is such a great feature. This unique search feature enables us to quickly identify the right soldier, even if we have a common surname to find. This is where Findmypast comes into its own, because it has the facility to search for your soldier by his ‘soldier number’ or ‘regiment’, which can be found in the advanced options settings. A generic search brings up over 200,000 results, but by filtering our search to ‘military’ and then search for World War 1, this has brought our searches down to just over 2,000, still far too many to manage. Taking our filtering technique a step further, imagine we are looking for a soldier from WW1 and looking for one of my Wootton Soldiers. This will help you get the measure of how successful or manageable your search results will be, a very handy tool to have. Whilst we are talking numbers, as you fill in search fields, Findmypast automatically shows you how many records are available, based on your search criteria. In addition to this, you can also try using the ‘search radius tool’, which allows you to search for your ancestors around the neighbouring regions named in records, useful for when ancestors moved around and parish borders changed. ![]() ![]() Filter this again, by ‘area, county or location’ and you can really zero in on a much narrower set of results. Our search results have dropped from 1,237 to just 18! A far more manageable amount of results to work with. If we want to look for a Chiddicks baptism, we can do this from the main page and clicking on the ‘all record sets’ button on the right hand side of the page and entering the word ‘baptism’ into the box. Take for example my surname, Chiddicks, not the most common surname you will hear, but running a ‘basic search’, brings up a huge 1,237 results, far too many to work with. The Findmypast website has a wonderful search and filtering feature, which allows you to filter your searches by years, by place, by category or even by a keyword, for example ‘Baptism’.
